Our collections span the world and tell a century of stories, scroll down to explore. 

Including thousands of hours of footage, our monumental London archives trace the evolution of the city throughout the 20th century, through the Blitz, the Swinging 60s, Cool Britannia and beyond. Our collections proudly focus on Black British life, as well as the cultures and subcultures that continue to make London one of the world’s most exciting cities.

Bridging the gap between World War II and the cultural upheaval of the 1960s, our ‘40s and ’50s London archive documents the rebuilding of the city following the Blitz, as well as the emerging influence of rock & roll amongst a host of other topics.

1940s - 1950s London

From Carnaby Street to King's Road and beyond, our Swinging 60s London archive drinks in the atmosphere of a city in its heyday. Featuring street fashion and high fashion, frenzied nightclubs and bustling tube trains, footage takes in scenes both rare and iconic, breathing new life into a fascinating era.

1960s London

Bubbling with energy, our 70s London collection includes protests, politics, Pride marches and Punks. From home movies to activist  films, our footage captures the cultural upheaval of the city.

1970s London

Our London archive is full of 80s extravagance, complete with clubbing, fashion, yuppie lifestyles and the Second Summer of Love.

1980s London

The heart of Cool Britannia, London in the ‘90s was the place to be. Dust off your Union Jack jumper and revisit the era of New Labour, Britpop, YBAs and the Spice Girls. This collection includes thousands of hours of rushes from London local news reports which have remained unseen since they were shot in the 1990s.

1990s - 2000s London

With sweeping aerials, breathtaking skylines, extensive driving shots and streets scenes, the iconic sights and sounds of London are captured in our collections. From across the 20th century, our footage brings quintessential London images into sparkling focus.
Take a stroll down seedy Soho streets, past peep shows, strip clubs, and sex shops. Our collection peeks into all the nooks and crannies of one of London’s most iconic locales, a salacious enclave in the heart of Central London.
